no access to Taylor & Francis Journals

Problem:
WAT reports Taylor & Francis Journals not allowing access, 1/18/2010 (no access to Addiction Abstracts).

Troubleshooting notes:
1/30/10 T&F contacted--basically the answer is that their interface is what it is. We do not subscribe to Addiction Abstracts, and therefore there is no access. We don't subscribe to everything just as in most publisher databases. ej
In general, they have made some changes to the interface of Informaworld that may be causing some problems. 1/18/10 ej
1. When you select the advanced search, two different default search groups come up depending on whether you use the advanced search that comes up when you first open Informaworld (journal only), or if you select "advanced search" from the options on the upper left hand corner of the screen (eBooks, Journals, Reference Works, and Addiction Abstracts) In the case of Addiction Abstracts, we do not have a subscription to it, so that is why we can't get access to articles that come up in searches.
Action: Since that is the case, I will find out if we can remove it from the "default" advanced search.
2. Action: We will check with T&F as to this mysterious message that shows up in search results: Sorry - record recently removed from the database
3. I wonder if they have changed the default "fields searched" ie. the first type of search on the pulldown menu, from "all fields" to "article/chapter title". In your advanced search for "environmental toxins" (without the quotes), you are doing an "all words" limited to "article/chapter title" with a result of four hits. I think the search is working ok as it is looking for those words in only article or chapter titles. When you do an advanced search on "environmental toxins" (without the quotes) and open it up to "all fields" you get 1622 results . When you put in the quotes on "environmental toxins", the number drops to 206, and the relevancy is better.
Action: I will ask InformaWorld about all of this. If we have a choice, shall I select "all fields" to be the first on the pulldown menu?
