Open URLs and mismatched indexing levels between indexes and publishers

Problem: Article level links are displayed in 360 linker page but do not locate the article at the publisher site. In this case the link to the Highwire press journal.

Assigned to:
Priority:
Status: Known issue
Workaround: Using the doi link and CrossRef should find the article regardless of the title. If that option is not available, note the article citation, click on the journal link, navigate to the year, volume, issue and page that the article should be found.

Troubleshooting notes:
2010/03/19 - This is a problem that comes from varying indexing standards between corporate entities.

The article is indexed by ArticleFirst. It is found in Highwire Press. This specific journal is structured into major topics with articles grouped into those topics. Each issue of the journal has different topical sections depending on the articles in the issue. AF inserts the name of the section into the title of each of the articles in that section as a prefix. HP knows the article by the title without the name of the topic inserted.

When 360 linker creates the open URL to search for the article in Highwire it pulls the title from the ArticleFirst indexing. It then uses that open URL to search Highwire for that title. Highwire does not know the article by that title, therefore the results are "not found".
