Problem: When try to view articles, PDF or html, in American Anthropologist or American Ethnologist that are newer they are visible as html or PDF.
Some of the older articles that are linked to through JSTOR do not appear either as a PDF or in html. Instead I am sent to the AnthroSource homepage to seemingly start over again.
Other older articles from the same time period that are linked through JSTOR seem to work correctly. The difference appears to be random.

Troubleshooting notes:
Workaround: go directly to JStor to find those older articles that refuse to appear in AnthroSource.

3/13/09 - Adding the wildcard did not work.
3/13/09 - Some articles lose their proxy wrapper when you click to access the full text. Will try wildcarding the WAM entry.
2/5/09 - Serialst reports the gap problem is fixed. Confirmed it this am. gb
2/3/09 - AnthroSource indicates the problem is related to multiple ISSNs for some of the journals that started as newslettters and thus have a different ISSN now than they did then. They are working on the problem. gb
2/2/09 - Further examination shows an example : Medical Anthropology Quarterly, Volume 1. Issue 4. January 1987 (Pages 424 - 431). We have access through Jstor and it works fine but the link from AnthroSource leads us back to the AnthroSource homepage. So it may be a GR problem. gb

We are accessing AnthroSource through the Auraria Library's subscription. The ip ranges have not changed.

We have access through Jstor and it works fine but the link from AnthroSource leads us back to the AnthroSource homepage. Could you check the gold rush access set up in AnthroSource?
This must mean that we'll have a 4 year gap in all our full text AAA subscriptions, from 1 year ago to 5 years ago. Is that true?
The vendor reports that some of the journal article links visible in AnthroSource are still in the process of being connected to the full text. Apparently issn changes over the years (what a surprise ;-)) are wrecking havoc. They are working on the problem.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile many of these journal articles are locatable (indexed) and available through the native JStor interface.
The access problem has resurfaced for some of the journals. They lose their proxy wrapper.
